London Deanery is committed to placing education and training at the heart of future models of service provision in London.
Liberating the NHS (DOH, 2010) gives clinicians the opportunity to redesign services in which greater emphasis will be on delivering population health outcomes, with increasing care delivery in ‘out of hospital’ settings. Essentially, we need to develop models of integrated care in which professionals work together to improve care for patients.
Alongside these new models of service delivery, our aim is to forge new ways of training and developing our workforce. We anticipate that in time, a significant amount of training will take place where the service is being provided.
In the following pages, we explore the issues surrounding integrated care, including examples of clinical integration and its implications for education and training.
